I felt that this movie was a massive waste of time and effort, with a notable absence of work on the dialogues. I eagerly waited throughout the entire film for a moment that would make me laugh. The only redeeming factor in this movie is Redin Kingsley. The dialogue, “Pathukku pathu kuduthavanugaulkellam manasatchiye illiya da!?” is apt here. Have none of you seen a good movie? Is this film deserving of a 10/10 rating, on par with “Pariyerum Perumal,” “Ratchasan,” or “Jai Bhim”? The first half of “Chandramukhi” is a textbook example of how to execute horror comedy effectively. Comedy is a serious craft, and comedians understand this. Those who don’t grasp this concept become buffoons. The portrayal of ghosts in Tamil cinema has devolved into a caricature. A skilled director must master the art of persuasion. Unfortunately, this movie is a glaring misunderstanding of that, as it appears the director persuaded the producer to release this dreadful abomination that should never have left the editing table.
